Meet the Lynx

Friends told me they have seen a lynx when actually watching deer and moose not far from our home. So they invited us to come with them and have a try. On the second evening we were lucky. When watching a deer the lynx suddenly jumped out of the grass and tried to hunt down the deer. The deer escaped and the lynx left hungry. That was a very exciting evening even the lynx was far away and we had to crop and process the images a lot to get something to post on Instagram.

So we decided to return another day but in the morning. Starting at 3:00 a.m., we set up the hide a bit closer to the place we have seen the lynx the day before. Then start waiting... but nothing happened. The night disappeared and with the daylight the fog moved in. Around 4:00 a.m. a deer showed up having breakfast, A little movement one meter in front of our hide, a mole was sneaking around on the ground.

It was almost 5:00 when we recognized a movement on the right side about 50 meters away from our hide. It was the lynx hunting for mice!

My heart start beating like a train but I tried to do not make any noise, then adjust the camera and start shooting. Sometimes the he was looking straight into the camera but he totally ignored us. So we had about 5 minutes to take images and video footage. What an exciting start in a new day!
